Project Description: |
Our client, a major investment bank, seeking a project manager to join their Operational Practice Group within Technology Infrastructure. This individual should be an experienced project manager in the Operations space who is able to execute global projects across the full lifecycle, incorporate standards and best practices in their approach, and assist in ensuring the use of defined project management methods across the organization. The individual should have experience with projects involving multiple technologies and associated operational processes including UNIX, Windows, enterprise backup and storage technologies, help desk functions, application management, etc. This position requires a high degree of oral and written communication proficiency, organizational skills, and the adaptability to apply problem solving skills across the supported service areas.
Principal Responsibilities:
Defining and executing all phases of complex, global projects using defined project management controls Improving project management processes in Operations and ensuring the use of project management standards across the parties involved in a project Manage expectations on project status with relevant parties Assist in the financial assessment of engagements including the development of business cases where appropriate Track and report on progress of multiple major projects and define dependencies in order to achieve project goals Enable a process engineering approach within the Operations organization Partner with other OPG members to design, develop, and rollout additional operational practices in areas including risk management, metrics measurement, incident/problem management, workflow, and knowledge management Identify opportunities both within the Technology Operations group and with external teams to apply operational best practices Principal contact for all pr |
Required Skills: |
Deep understanding of project management and development lifecycle – requirements through implementation and maintenance Strong technical project management skills (6+ years experience minimum) – Project management of multi-million dollar budgets is strongly preferred Evidence of successful team leadership for multiple project lifecycles Specific experience in developing detailed requirements specifications is essential (3+ years) Experience with identifying and implementing operational controls and measurement Deep knowledge of standards and practices – including an understanding of different methodological approaches (e.g. ITIL) and the ability to practically adapt these concepts for key initiatives Strong leadership presence with project teams and external counterparts Ability to work independently, analyze problems, and make decisions with minimal management intervention Proactively involve key users in all stages of the project life cycle Ability to anticipate potential obstacles and develop contingency plans to overcome them Exceptional written, public speaking, and presentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Office suite Awareness of new and existing technologies, architectur |
